a few words on PBS FM
presenter Andrew Hollo by
Andrew Hollo
Born in the Year of the Snake, I sink my fangs into anything musically
adventurous, anywhere in the world. I'm not a musician - just a broadcaster
- and my earliest recollections of music were my parents' bossa nova LPs,
70's Australiana on radio station 3XY and my piano teacher's passion for
Eastern European composers. My real musical awakening came with PBS FM in
1981 when I discovered the extraordinary world of German electronic music -
Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze.
Musical interests of mine which may not be apparent from listening to
Hybrid are Cuban dance music, some forms of techno, early 20th Century
Russian chamber music, most types of jazz, classical guitar music and some
female vocal pop. On the rare occasions I'm not listening to music, I'm
cooking, spending time with friends, travelling the world (or dreaming
about it), reading 18th/19th century fiction and history, practicing yoga,
riding my bike and eating chocolate. What do I hate? Television, dogs, fast
food. That's about it.
